10. 우파사마(적정) 장로니

우파사마는 폭류를 건너

죽음의 영역, 건너기 어려운 걸 잘 건너

마지막 몸의 흐름에 있으니

마라와 그의 군대는 정복되었다.

10. Upasamātherīgāthā
“Upasame tare oghaṃ,
maccudheyyaṃ suduttaraṃ;
Dhārehi antimaṃ dehaṃ,
jetvā māraṃ savāhinin”ti.

upasama: [m.] calmness; appeasement, 寂静, 寂止, 休息, 止息

tara: [adj.] (in cpds.), crossing; passing over

ogha : [m.] a flood; that which sweeps a man away from emancipation; torrent, 暴流, 流, 洪水

maccudheyya: [maccu+dheyya]

maccu : [m.] death; the Death 死, 死神, 悪魔, 死王, 계교(ma)를 하는 것이니죽음

Dheyya: [dhā, see dahati1] 1. in the realm of, under the sway or power of, 영역, 布置

dahati : [dah + a] burns (燃)燒, 苦(煩)惱; accepts 放置(put, place)

suduttara: [adj.] very difficult to escape from 넘어 만나기 매우 어려운

duttara: [adj.] difficult to cross over

dhara: [adj.] (in cpds.)持(有)的(holding in mind, knowing by heart), 保持的, torrent, stream, flow, shower 水流, 流水

antima: [adj.] last; final, 最終的, 最後的

jetvā : [abs. of jeti] having conquered; having subdued

jeti : [ji + e] conquers; subdues勝 := jayati

10. 우파사마여, 저 넘기 어려운 죽음의 왕의 영토를 넘고
저 사나운 물결을 건너
마왕과 그 권속을 함께 부수고
가장 마지막의 그 몸을 가져라.

10. 우파사마여， 죽음의 귀신이 웅크리고 있는

억수 같은 격류를 건너가라.

악마와 그 부하 모두를 이기고

최후의 육신을 얻으라.
